Bernie is retired from Verizon where he worked at their Corporate Headquarters as Executive Director of Internal Audit, responsible for auditing Verizons' computer systems and networks worldwide.  He and his wife Sue have been married for 45 years. He is originally from Charlestown, Ma. and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Information Systems from Northeastern University. Bernie and Sue have owned property in the White Mountain area for 35 years.  Now residing in Tamworth, they have been full time NH residents for the past 15 years.

Bernie was diagnosed with stage 4, muscle invasive, bladder cancer in 2011 and was given only a 10% chance of surviving.  With unending support from his wife Sue, he endured 74 chemo and radiation treatments and survived a stroke during his last week of chemo.  He attributes his successful recovery to positive attitude and to the advocacy and support he received from Sue throughout his ordeal.
